Shook Manufactured Products, Inc., formerly a Kentucky Corporation, was formed over 30 years ago by Quentin Shook. Quentin Shook, a former contractor, perfected the hex magnetic chuck used today to run self-piercing and drill-point screws.

In 1993, the company changed ownership and was relocated to Akron, Ohio. Since that time, many new products and programs have been added. Shook's excellent reputation for quality products, quick delivery, and high fill ratios is an integral part of the company today. Shook is recognized within the industry as the “QUICK DELIVERY COMPANY.” Our goal is to meet your requirements and make doing business with our company easy and profitable.

Our line of hex magnetic chucks includes the Original “JIFFY” Chuck, a precision machined, tool steel product, and the “Jiffy Grip” Chuck with its unique, sure gripping design.

In order to meet the requirements of a broad and diversified range of wholesalers and their customers, Shook maintains three specific self-piercing screw inventories designed to satisfy a variety of market requirements.

Our premier series is the JIFFY POINT or 800 Series screw, engineered and designed to satisfy the requirements of the most stringent users and applications.

Our standard Shook SPEED SCREW or 100 Series is engineered to meet the demands of today's more competitive markets.

New for 2005 are the 7x1/2 and 8x1/2 SUPER SCREWS, designed with a longer taper point preferred by contractors.

JIFFY POINT SCREWS (or 800 Series): To insure that our wholesalers and their customers receive only the best, we adhere to the following criteria and procedure.

The procedure involves negotiations with our mill and the submission of test run samples for acceptance. The key ingredient in consistently providing a uniform product is controlling the number of screws manufactured between tool changes. Upon receipt of the test run samples, we contract with an independent test facility to develop run time figures, verify performance and dimensions, as well as endure other characteristics of the products. The Jiffy Point is designed to pierce two sheets of .020 galvanized steel at approximately 1700 RPM with 30 points of pressure.

Shook SPEED SCREWS (or 100 Series): The Shook standard Speed Screw performs consistently and is equivalent to other self-piercing screws on the market today. The product is tested against the same criteria as the Jiffy Point series. We do, however; manufacture a greater number of screws between tool changes, slightly increasing the run time. The additional savings resulting from fewer tool changes allow you to meet situations where a more competitively priced product is required.
